Introduction programmes


Foundation Course
Roskilde University (RUC) offers a Foundation Course for new international students prior to semester start. The course is free of charge. We strongly encourage you to participate, as it is aimed specifically at helping you as a new international student to a good start, and to make your studies at RUC as successful as possible.

The course gives you an introduction to:

  • the history and philosophy of RUC
  • the learning principles and approaches to studying and research
  • practical information about daily life as a RUC student
  • help with practical matters when moving to Denmark and much more

Introduction to your study programme
You might also get an introduction at your bachelor or master's programme. Here you will get a hands-on introduction to your programme including important information about your courses and workshops.

RUC login and e-mail account

After we have sent you the Acceptance Letter, you will be formally enrolled. When you are enrolled, you will receive a message via e-mail. You can get your username and password for your RUC login and e-mail account after receipt of this e-mail.

Your username and password is your access to all RUC's IT-systems, RUC e-mail account, wifi and digital platforms.

Student card

Once you have your username and password, you can order your student card. You can either upload your own photo and order your student card here or you can go to the photo booth in Building 03 to take your picture and order the card there.

When the card is ready, you will receive an e-mail stating that you can pick it up at the Service Desk in Building 03. 

How to register for courses and projects

 

Courses:
As an exchange student or as a guest student, you will be registered for the study activity agreed upon in your Learning Agreement.

Project:
After group formation, you have to register for the group examination in STADS Online Student Services. Deadline for group registration is normally by the end of the group formation process and can be found at study.ruc.dk

If you have any questions about your study activities, you can contact the Study Administration directly or come by the the Student Hub located in building 01.

Changes:
Minor changes to your Learning Agreement as an exchange student can be made before semester start and only in special cases, we will accept changes after semester start and absolutely no later than 2nd lecture. Please forward an updated RUC Learning Agreement, signed by you and your home university, to the Incoming Exchange Team. 

Group formation

It is obligatory for you to attend the group formation for the project. The group formation process usually takes 1-3 days and helps you to decide on the topic of the project and who you will work on the project with. It is not possible to do a project alone. You will find the dates and location for your group formation at study.ruc.dk

When and where your courses will be held

Please note that you will not receive a timetable of your study activities.

You will find information regarding your study activities in the RUC course catalogue (study.ruc.dk): course dates and location, examination details, teachers, curriculum and contact e-mail for the specific study administration of the course. Information can be downloaded to your RUC-calendar in your RUC e-mail.

If you have any questions about your courses, you can contact the Study Administration directly or come by the the Student Hub located in building 01.

Course materials

At moodle.ruc.dk you will find teaching materials, presentations, discussions, evaluations etc. You log in with your RUC username and password. You must be registered for your courses and project before you can gain access to your study activities in Moodle.

Free Danish courses for International Students

While most Danes speak English quite well, learning Danish while studying in Denmark will benefit you at your study place, in your social life and in terms of finding a job in Denmark.

You will have to pay a deposit. The full deposit will be reimbursed when finishing the exam. Read more about it and find the contact information for Danish courses at RUC via Clavis here.

Public transportation discount

You can apply for a public transportation pass known as an "Ungdomskort" as an exchange or guest student.

Transcript of Records

At the end of your stay, after finishing the last examination, you can pick up your Transcript of Records in the Student Hub in building 01 or request it via e-mail from the Incoming Exchange Team (incoming-exchange@ruc.dk) or the Guest Student Team (gueststudent@ruc.dk).
